Bang Tao Bay is a large open bay at over 8 kms long and the 2nd longest beach in Phuket. The area around Bang Tao Bay was once used for tin mining. To this day, this area has been developed into many luxury hotels and resorts, especially the renowned; Laguna complex with its massive five hotels and golf course. However, there are other accommodations are available at the bay's south end.

A number of restaurants, tour companies and other tourist facilities are available either at Laguna or in the nearby Choeng Thale town. And at the bay's north end is a smaller bay, ideal for swimming and snorkeling which is some fine foral. These make Bang Tao Bay remains a fine area for all travellers.
